Application to join the TIS National panel
To apply to join the TIS National interpreter/translator panel, please complete and submit the application. Ensure you have all required documentation before beginning. Once you start, you will not be able to save progress and return to the application later. Incomplete applications will not progress.
Please ensure all certified documents are:
- colour copies of original documents
- certified by an Authorised Person
This guide provides information on who is able to certify your identity documents.
All applications require the following:
- A certified copy of your Australian citizenship, Australian residency status or New Zealand citizenship
- 100 points of identification documents. For further details please refer to: 100 points of identification guidelines. Please ensure one document from each category is provided.

A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check:
- Must be less than 12 months old.
- If your National Police Certificate (NPC) is not verifiable online, you must provide a certified copy.
The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission website has a complete list of accredited bodies for NPCs.

A recent passport photo for your TIS National ID card
- Must meet the following requirements: headshot only, good quality, white background, .jpg or png file type.

Applicants with a NAATI credential:
- Please provide your NAATI CPN. We will use this on an ongoing basis to verify the credentials that you hold with NAATI. Please read our Privacy Notice for information on how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information.
- The NAATI CPN, when added to the application, will automatically upload your NAATI credentials.
Applicants without a NAATI credential:
Please provide:
- A current resume
- Two professional references detailing relevant interpreting/translating experience (must be on a business letterhead)
Other requirements:
- A Working with Children Check (WWCC) or Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration is mandatory for all interpreter applicants residing in SA, ACT and NT, and for all translator applicants residing in ACT. These are optional for all other states. However, these checks are often a requirement for many assignments. If you hold a current WWCC or WWVP, please upload a certified copy to your application form.
- A National Disability Insurance Scheme Worker Screening Check (NDIS-WSC) is not mandatory. However, this is a mandatory requirement for many assignments offered by TIS National. If you have one, please upload a certified copy.
All supporting documents must be certified colour copies. Your application will not progress if these requirements are not met.
