Application to join the interpreter panel

To apply to become a TIS National interpreter, complete and submit this form with the following:

  • your NAATI CPN for those who hold credentials. We will use this on an ongoing basis to verify the credentials that you hold with NAATI. Please click here to see our Privacy notice.

  • details of at least one emergency contact/next of kin.

  • a copy of your National Police History Check/National Police Certificate (NPC). Your NPC must not be more than 12 months old. If your NPC is from Australian Federal Police or State Police, you will need to provide a certified copy.

  • certified copies of 100 points of identification documentation.

  • a certified copy of proof of your Australian citizenship or residency status, or New Zealand citizenship

  • your resume

  • details of any interpreting experience you have including reference letters

  • a digital passport sized photo. The photo that you provide must meet specific requirements or you will be asked to provide another photo. Check that your photo meets these requirements:

    • headshot only (a passport ID photo is ideal)

    • good quality, less than 12 months old

    • plain white or light background

    • face looking directly at the camera with nothing obscuring the face

    • recognisable likeness to you (compared to the other photo identification documents you are uploading)

    • a .jpg or .png file type

  • a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check (NWSC) is not mandatory. However, you will need to have this check to perform interpreting for people with disability. If you have one, please upload a certified copy of an NWSC from your state or territory of residence.

  • a WWCC is mandatory for interpreters residing in the following state/territory: Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory and South Australia.

It is important that you provide certified copies of your documents, otherwise your application will be rejected.
